| Aerial Bundled Cables - (ABC System) ABC- aerial bundled cables with aluminium conductor for 1 kV overhead system has
been manufactured by TÜRKKABLO A.O. according Finish Standard SFS 2200 and Turkish
Standard TS 11654 since 1971 and registered as the name ALPEK®,
Sizes and insulation in accordance with customer’s specifications will be
manufactured by request.
The use of ABC cables in low voltage networks provides important saving in
installation costs, while it ensures the same reliability and safety, replaces bare
conductors in overhead distribution lines and increased very rapidly since 1960, all
around the world
Below, are briefly listed some of several economical and technical advantages offered
by ALPEK® system.
Reliability
- ALPEK® cable system is an excellent solution for rural and also industrial areas.
Experience shows that the disturbances and defects occur 5...10 times more often in bare
conductors than in ALPEK® lines.
- The break-down voltage of the ALPEK® cable is very high. This means fewer
interruptions due the insulation effects
- Also kWh meters are better secured against atmospheric overvoltages when using ALPEK®
(ABC) system.
- ALPEK®
(ABC) system is friendly to the environment and nature; a
minimum amount of trees, need to be cut.
- Contacts with trees do not cause dangerous short-circuits.

SafetyBeing insulated, the ALPEK® cable is not dangerous to persons who
touch it unawares. In this aspect it differs essentially from bare-conductor lines. This
is an important advantage for both fitters and others who live or work nearby.
The neutral of the ALPEK® is uninsulated. The neutral is easily and
unmistakably identifiable when low-voltage lines are being installed or repaired.
Short-circuits are very rare in the ALPEK® (ABC) System.
Costs
- The erection costs of a fully installed ALPEK® line are lower than those of a
corresponding bare-conductor line. The ALPEK© saves money on labour costs,
accessories, tools and total investment. So it is the solution when maximum line
kilometrage for minimum investment and labour input sought.
- An ALPEK® line is also cheaper than a bare-conductor line for operating and
maintenance costs.
- Several ALPEK® cables can be installed on the same pole. Due to this the
distribution capacity can be increased later.
- Other cables, for instance telephone cables or medium voltage overhead power cables, can
be installed on the same pole with the ALPEK® cables.
- Lower inductive reactance of the ALPEK® cables reduces voltage drop and power
losses.
- Due the fewer interruption on the ALPEK® line, lower consumption losses and
customers complaints.
- The insulated phase conductors of ALPEK® cables prevent unlicensed use of
electricity.

INSTALLATION
ALPEK® cables are very easy to install with the
accessories specially designed for ALPEK® SYSTEM. A trained fitter can learn the
installation technique in a few days.
ALPEK® Installation Handbook ( El Kitabý II - Montaj ) shows the
installation way of ALPEK® cable on the wooden, steel and concrete poles for dead
ends, angles and straight lines and tapping systems and their accessories.
Do not pull out over stony ground, barbed wire, stone walls or anything else liable to
damage insulation or the neutral messenger.
Do not pull ALPEK® cable out over a recently fertilized field.
Do not store ALPEK® cable reels in contact with the wet earth.
Specially designed teeth of the insulation piercing connectors (TK-PYK-AB 95)
pierce the conductor insulation and eliminate the necessity for stripping, brushing and
greasing. Connection can be made with conductor alive. It is used for aluminium or
copper to aluminium to copper connections.
Do not hesitate to contact TÜRKKABLO A.O. for further questions and information.
